Inspiring young people to change their world

“I have known Dominic Howell for a good number of years and always been very impressed by his depth of knowledge, insight and analysis of politics worldwide. He combines that with his great experience of sharing that enthusiasm with his students. Dominic is ideally suited to the important task of reigniting a passion for politics among the current generation of young people.”

Rt. Hon. Sir John Randall

Government Deputy Chief Whip 2010-13

MP for Uxbridge 1997-2015

"Dominic is without any doubt one of, if not the best, teacher I had during my time at school. I had the privilege of being in his 'Oxbridge class' where he led weekly discussions on more advanced material relating to political theory and concepts.

Not only is Dominic able to explain complicated concepts in easy to understand language he goes beyond setting out the facts alone and forces you to engage in political debate. It would not be an exageration to say that the time I spent with him changed the way I view the world and my approach to study.

In terms of the preparation for Oxbridge admission here too Dominic was outstanding. He pushed me well and although demanding his feedback was so useful in the progression of my application. When I finally came to interview at Oxford I could enter the room with some air of calm as I knew broadly what to expect.

In sum Dominic is a fantastic teacher of politics and interview preparation and I could not recommend him more."

Stevan Boljevic

PPE Student, Oriel College, Oxford

"Politics A-level with Mr Howell was less a course on reading from a book, and more a preparation for a career in the illuminating world of politics; the engagement of day-to-day issues meant we were never bored, and more often than not, we were encouraged and inspired to learn outside of the classroom environment, to really immerse ourselves in the subject, and to live it on a day to day basis. It was, without a doubt, brilliant."

"The talk to our students on cheating in elections really helped them to make the connection between political theory and reality. The real-life insights from election observation missions that Mr Howell was able to share left our students with a greater appreciation of the value of democracy, and more likely to engage politically in the future."

Mike Joyce

Head of Government and Politics

St Benedict's School, Ealing

"Dominic has that rare ability to balance a fierce intellectual engagement and incredible subject knowledge with the ability to explain complex ideas with great clarity and straightforwardness. He was a real inspiration to pupils and tremendous fun to work with."

Gus Lock

Headmaster, Warwick School

"Dominic is an inspirational speaker and educator with a gift for gripping stories. Having produced truly exceptional success for his students as a teacher, I am delighted that his new venture will enable many more young people to gain an understanding of the workings of the world. All schools, and all students, would benefit from Dominic's insights and inspirational talks so that they are better prepared for the challenges of the 21st century."

Vaughan Connolly

Faculty of Education

University of Cambridge

"Dom's talk was extremely well received by our Lower Sixth, who were kept fully engaged throughout the hour. He spoke in detail about his personal experiences as an election observer, well illustrated with intriguing images captured "at the front" and amusing and lively anecdotes about the "democratic" processes in certain countries. His talk also had an important underlying message about the importance of the electorate and the responsibilities that come with suffrage, but this was never delivered in a sermonising way but in a manner and tone that resonated with 17-18 year olds. It was clear that Dom was an experienced and comfortable performer on the stage with an easy rapport with his audience, and we shall not hesitate in inviting him back at the earliest opportunity."

Michael Husbands

Head of Sixth Form,

Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood

"Dominic delivered a very informative presentation and engaged with the students, not always an easy task on a Monday evening. The feedback from the Lower Sixth formers was positive and they appreciated that it was not covering the same material as previous presentations. I recommend Dominic to you and will certainly invite him to speak to next year's L6, perhaps this time on 'The New Cold War'."

Alexandra Simpson

Director of Lower Sixth

Felsted School

"I came out from the talk enthused about the topic and we were all amazed at the exciting high risk job he leads."
